About AILab@FOI

The Artificial Antelligence Laboratory at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb, Croatia (AILab@FOI) was established in 2013 by the Faculty council after an initiative by faculty members which were active in this field of research. Assoc. prof. Markus Schatten was appointed as the first head of AILab@FOI and is currently still holding this position. Since then the laboratory has participated in numerous scientific and professional projects funded by Croatian and European agencies dealing with various aspects of AI and has (co-)organized several events to popularize the field of AI. Members of the AILab@FOI have been publishing research artifacts in journals, conferences, edited books and have been teaching various courses related to the field.

AI Lab's mission is to conduct cutting-edge, long-term research and education in artificial intelligence, machine learning, multi-agent systems, games, computational intelligence, web mining, semantic web and related topics. Our research addresses fundamental problems in designing more capable AI systems and controlling them to interact intelligently with people, the environment and each other.
